Our Learning Journey

 Bible:

In Bible we continued to learn about Jesus’ early ministry. Our discussion about God’s new rules was based on the Sermon on the Mount.

Literacy:

Reading:

This past week, we began small and informal reading groups. Mrs. Bjornson met with small groups of students with specific reading needs and introduced a specific skill for them to practice.

Writing:

In writing we focused on staying on topic. We learned that writing is like a burrito with a “tortilla” (idea) holding it together.

Math:

This last week, students focused on the 10 skip counting pattern, beginning with multiples of 10. This upcoming week, students will practice identifying errors in skip counting patterns in skip counting by 10 starting at multiples of 10 as well as skip counting patterns by 10 starting at numbers other than 10.

Social Studies:

Last week, students imagined they were visiting a Canadian region they had been researching. Students practiced transferring the information they had collected into a letter. This week, students will practice editing and revising their writing.

Important Dates:

Jan 31 – Teacher Professional Day (No School)

Feb 17 – Family Day (No School)
