We encourage you to talk with your child about Remembrance Day and its significance. If you desire, please have your child bring a small coin donation for the poppies that they will be receiving on Friday. Thank you for your patience while waiting for this blog! Please remember to SUBSCRIBE to this blog on the homepage so you don’t miss any important upcoming information.

Meet the Teacher Night

It was wonderful to meet everyone last Wednesday!  If you have any questions regarding your child’s learning or about our school routines, please feel free to email us or schedule an appointment for a meeting.

Volunteers

Please remember to return the blue volunteer form as soon as possible. We would love to start our parent-student reading program on Monday, September 23. A calendar posted on the bulletin board outside the classroom room is now available for you to sign up. Thank you for your support!

Recess in the rain

Please check the weather forecast before coming to school so that you can dress your child accordingly. Recess play is outdoors even if it rains. Recommended rainy attire includes waterproof runners or rainboots and a waterproof jacket with a hat. Students are not allowed to bring umbrellas during recess times, but they can use the umbrellas before and after school when they go home.

Extra Clothing

Remember to check and replenish your child’s extra clothing box if they have used any clothing that day. Children often need to change their socks, and sometimes pants after a rainy day.

No peanuts please

Please do not bring any food to school that contains peanuts or peanut butter. We have children with peanut allergies in our classroom.

Parent Supervisors for Recess Still Needed

There are so many great reasons to sign up and be paid to be at RCS. This year we have switched when we need Parent Volunteers to ONLY be at Morning Recess.

Why is that so great? It is great because Parent Supervisors have less students at one time to supervise because we have two 15-minute morning recesses. The first recess from 10:30-10:45 and has the Kindergarten to Grade 3. The second recess has only the Grade 4’s and 5’s. Our deep hope is students and supervisors will have greater success during these distinct playtimes. What a great way to be connected, help the school and get some Starbuck’s money on the side.

We are looking for parents who speak English and can commit from September to June for at least one time per week during the 10:15-11:15 time period. Please email at rteodora@myrcs.ca or call the Elementary Office to sign up and become involved as a Parent Recess supervisor.
