About 3H (2018 – 2019)

3H is a grade 3 class at Richmond Christian school comprised of 25 high-energy students. There are 15 boys and 10 girls. Students enter the school through the East door next to the back staff parking lot. This Fall we will be a busy time learning classroom routines and behaviours. Library is on Tuesdays. P.E. is on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. A Bible is needed in class all year. Students also need indoor shoes,  comfortable clothing for P.E.  and a library bag.

We start the year in Math with a graphing unit. Then we will work on Number Concepts such as place value, skip counting, divisibility, rounding  and fractions. Of course we will work on our addition and subtraction skills right away and alongside our other work.

In reading we learn strategies to help us read better and  how to connect to what we read, learning to ask good questions about what we are reading and practice visualizing while we read. This year we will encourage students to set goals to improve their reading skills.  In writing we will begin with learning how to use our “ideas” and turning them into interesting, organized projects.

Our first Socials unit is all about global communities. Then we will work on mapping skills. In Science we will be learning about Matter.  In Computers we learn how to use the internet safely and practice our keyboarding skills. We will be working on grammar and handwriting skills as well.

In Bible we will begin with the study of Jacob’s life and how God’s hand is involved in Jacob becoming the head of His special people.

Welcome to 3H!
