Because this is a short week, Spelling will resume next Monday.

On Wednesday, we will start a new math unit on Area & Perimeter. As well, we will work on poetry, inspired by our favourite photography.

There is no Chapel this week at the Elementary Campus.

This week, the Grade 4 teachers will collaborate to create the class lists for Grade 5.

Many factors are considered when creating class lists, including gender, academic, behavioural & social needs. To assist us in this process, we will ask each student to complete a “sociogram” this Wednesday, May 9.  The sociogram helps us identify the students with whom your child works well & gets along.

These are the questions your child will be asked:

  1. Who do you like to play with at recess or lunch?
  2. Who would you invite over to your house for a birthday party, playdate, or sleepover?
  3. Who do you work well with on projects?
  4. From 4E & 4L, who would you enjoy having in your Grade 5 class next year?

Students will be asked to write at least 5 different names for each category.

Please take the time to talk about these questions with your child over the next 2 days so they are prepared to fill out the 4S Sociogram in class on Wednesday, May 9.

Thank you for your prayers & support!

Miss Semke

Dear Parents,

It has been an exciting two weeks with lots of special events–field trip, musical, Grandparents Day, track meet, etc.  As a result, some schoolwork has not been finished during class time, despite extra “catch-up” periods.

This weekend, and during the week to come, may I ask you to please check our “Late Work” page on this blog to see if your child needs extra support to complete assignments? We are learning to follow through with our school responsibilities. Your help is much appreciated. Thank you!

It is track meet time!

For the past month, our Grade Four students have worked diligently to develop their track & field abilities. They have demonstrated very good effort and perseverance. Now it is time for a fun-filled, action-packed day of healthy physical activity, good sportsmanship, & positive social interaction with Christian schools from all over the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.

Reminders:

  1. Be prepared for any type of weather.
  2. Wear appropriate athletic gear (supportive running shoes, shorts, & red RCS T-shirt).
  3. Bring a healthy snack, bagged lunch & lots of water.
  4. Sunscreen & a hat (even an umbrella for shade) are lifesavers on a hot day.
  5. Meet in our classroom @ 8:10 for attendance (we are loaded & on the bus by 8:20).
  6. If you are driving your own child to & from the track meet, please email Miss Semke as soon as possible (please cc Mr. Przybylski).

This event is always a highlight of our Gr. 4 school year. Thank you for your prayers & support!

Miss Semke (csemke@myrcs.ca)
