4S has the opportunity to have Ms. Pam Collins from the Reach Child & Youth Development Society join us on Friday, May 3 to talk about:

  • ways in which we are all similar
  • ways in which we all may differ
  • how we all have strengths and challenges

Students will learn about “social senses”, discover how we use social senses in our daily lives, and find out what it’s like for people with autism to use their “social senses”.

Maybe this learning experience is something your family could discuss around the dinner table on Friday night!

Dear RCS Elementary Parents,

The evening performance is today, April 18th, from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the large gym. Doors will open at 6:30pm for the evening performance.

The musical is being recorded and will be available on DVD for preorder starting next week until May 24th. A school family business is volunteering their time to provide this to families at minimal cost. The recording will include scenes from the dress rehearsal, both performances, and a picture montage.

Thank you to Softcode Video Production (see or

We ask that families not use flash photography or video recording on their own, but rather come to watch and enjoy the show. This helps everyone around to see without cameras and tripods in the way.

Hope you can come!

iCare for the World Week!

Hi Students and Parents,

It’s that time of the year again when we raise donations to support International China Concern.

Last Friday, we watched a video and heard some true stories about the needs of orphans and abandoned children in China. We were challenged to sacrifice our time, effort, and comfort to help others in need. Our theme in grade 4 is “Give Up to Lift Up.” Could we “give up” some of our free time to earn donations?  Could we “give up” our shyness to bravely share the ICC story with others?

We hope students will reach their fundraising goals, but also work hard to achieve their goals to take a risk to step out of their comfort zones in order to help abandoned and disabled children this Easter season.

Did You Know?

$30 pays the wage of a loving nanny to care for 5 children for 1 day?

$40 provides the home, food, and clothing needs for 1 child for 1 month?

$70 provides education for 1 child for 3 months?

$100 provides physical therapy for 1 child for 4 months?

To find out more about this wonderful Christian ministry, please visit

The final day to hand in donation forms will be Monday, April 15th.

Thank you for your prayerful support!

Welcome Back!

Digital Photography lessons begin in 4S.  Please bring a digital camera today (and every Tuesday this term) for this hands-on art unit. Remember that if tablets or cell phones are used as cameras, they are used only during lessons & field trips with teacher supervision.
