On Thursday, students in 3K visited the Union Gospel Mission. During our tour of the facility, we learned about the different programs that UGM runs to help serve the community including: 1) Mobile Mission, 2) providing hot, nutritious meals, 3) a women and families centre, 4) emergency shelter, 5) recovery programs and 6) affordable housing. The students were asked to think about how they, too, could participate in responding to the needs in our city. Here are some ways students can get involved:

  1. Learn & Share: Knowledge is the key foundation for lasting change. Share with others about what you learned at UGM.
  2. Collect & Fundraise: Get together with your classmates and do a drive for personal hygiene items, non-perishable food or clothing.
  3. Donate: Financial gifts will bring hope and restoration to our neighbours in need.
  4. Volunteer: Use your hands, heart and talent to make a difference by volunteering at UGM.

Continue to have a conversation with your child about ways they can care for “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40) in our community. Please read the newsletter for announcements and have a wonderful weekend!
