Please check the newsletter for important announcements. There are also some photos from our field trip to the Burnaby Village Museum in the “Fun in 3K” page. The students had a wonderful time experiencing what life was like 100 years ago. When we returned to school, we  had an interesting discussion on whether it would be better to live now (in 2019) or then (1925). One student even pointed out that even though we have so much technology today, sometimes it makes people spend less time together. So hopefully you will be able to spend some quality time together this weekend!

Dear 3K Families,

I hope you have a wonderful Spring Break and enjoy this time of rest as a family! If you are travelling, I hope you will be safe. If you are having a stay-cation, I hope it is relaxing.

Also, thank you for your donations! The Grade 3’s did a great job responding to the needs they heard about during their tour of UGM. These donations will be making their way to UGM over Spring Break. Continue to pray that the people receiving these items will experience the love of God in a real and tangible way. See you again in April!

God Bless,

Mrs. Kuo

Do What is Right…Live at Peace

Image result for live at peace

In Devotions, we talked about how God calls us to “do what is right” and “live at peace with everyone”. When God calls us to live at peace, this doesn’t just include our family, our friends and those that are easy to like. God calls us to show love even when other people don’t and even when things don’t go our way. This is a difficult calling, but we love because Christ loved us first. He gives us the strength to choose what is right even when others choose wrong.

What does this look like in 3K?

Before I speak (or act), I THINK:

  1. Is it True?
  2. Is it Helpful?
  3. Is it Inspiring (encouraging)?
  4. Is it Necessary?
  5. Is it Kind?

If I am feeling bothered because someone has said or done something that is not right or kind, I:

  1. TALK – Recognize the problem & use a confident voice to tell the other person what is upsetting me. I take responsibility for my actions.
  2. WALK – Find another spot where it is easier to work or play
  3. SQUAWK – If the person continues to bother me in an unkind way, or if a person is hurting me physically, I talk to a trusted adult to get some help.

Please continue to have this conversation with your child at home. Encourage them to communicate well!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! One more week until Spring Break!

Always Time to Do Good

0

Posted by mkuo | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on February 22, 2019

DEVOTIONS: In 3K, we talked about how there is only 24 hours in a day. There are many good things we can fit into it including riding our bikes, going to the beach, watching a movie, or playing games. However, if we focused first on those things, we would run out of time for the things that are really important (spending time with God or focusing on our priorities). Ecclesiastes 3:1, 12 tells us, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity…be happy and do good while you live”. In 3K, the students are learning to be good stewards of their time. God has given each one of us a job to do and only a certain amount to time to do it. We need to use our time wisely in a way that will bring glory to Him.

Thank you for your continued support. Please read the newsletter for important announcements. Have a great weekend!

God is Doing Something New

Image result for what a week

We have had such a busy week! The students had a great time:

  1. Visiting the Grade 11s and hearing about the Old Testament
  2. Taking a tour of Union Gospel Mission and thinking about how we can serve those in need (a couple of pictures in Fun in 3K)
  3. Practicing and performing during Dance Week! Here is a private link to watch 3K in action: 3K Dance. We hope it makes you want to get up and dance, too!

In our Devotions, we have been discussing Isaiah 43:18-19a which reminds us to “forget the former things” and instead, to focus on the “new things” God is doing. In our devotions, we have talked about taking inventory of our lives – discerning between the good habits that God wants us to continue this year and the bad habits God is challenging us to get rid of. Only by the strength and power from the Holy Spirit can our lives be transformed!

Please read the newsletter for important announcements. I hope you have a great week!

Make Every Thought Obedient

Over the past few weeks, we have been reflecting on the verse from 2 Corinthians 10:5 which says, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” As we prepared for Chapel, we discussed how we need to ask God to search our hearts and minds.

  • What lies do we allow ourselves to believe in?
  • Do we tend to easily worry, fear or hate?
  • Or do we put our full trust in the peace and love that comes from God?

As Christians, we need to replace Satan’s lies with God’s truth by resting whole-heartedly on the Word of God – a weapon that is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. Please continue to talk with your child about what they have learned through our Chapel. If you have any photos or videos that you would like to share from our presentation, please send them my way.

As usual, please read the newsletter for important announcements. Have a wonderful weekend!
