We have a field trip coming up on Monday, December 3.

Unless it is pouring rain, we will bravely complete this mapping/compass social studies activity.  So remember to come properly dressed for the day’s weather.  We want you to be warm and dry.  An umbrella may be necessary.

Students have been divided into explorer teams, each supervised by 1 parent leaders.

Things to bring:

1)  Digital camera to provide photographic evidence that your team visited each of the landmark check points.

2)  If you have your own compass–or device that has a compass app–please bring it along (but only if you have parental permission).  The school will provide each team with 2 basic hand-held compasses.

3)  Parent helpers will need to bring a cell phone in order to contact Miss Epp with team status reports during this 75 minute activity.

4)  Students and parent helpers are strongly encouraged to arrive at school by 10:00 am.  We will be boarding the bus promptly at 10:15 am.  We will return to the elementary campus by 12:25 pm.

A big THANK YOU to the parent supervisors who are helping to make this educational adventure possible.

The elementary campus will once again be collecting baby items to help support the important ministry work done by the Vancouver Crisis Pregnancy Centre.  Each year, the RCS community gives enough items to fill many Christmas hampers for babies and mothers in need.

Items will be collected in a special box in each classroom and presented to the CPC during Chapel on December 14th.

Please send new items to school with your child.  Suggested donations include:  sleepers and outfits (newborn – 12 months), undershirts, bibs, blankets, towels, washcloths, bottles, socks, slippers, hats, shampoo, lotion, diapers, wipes, toys, powdered formula, baby cereal, and jarred baby food.

Items for moms could include toiletries, magazines and treats.

Thank you for considering being a part of this annual CHRISTmas event that encourages many needy families and single mothers in the Lower Mainland.

Ms. Ho is in need of two parent volunteers to help her with spelling marking.  She is looking for a commitment of a minimum of eight weeks as it takes time to train for the marking.  The marking will take place on Thursday afternoons from 1:10 to 2:45.  A good knowledge of the English language is necessary.

Thank you for considering this request.  If you are interested or would like more information, you can email Ms. Ho at  (dho@richmondchristian.ca).
