As Term 1 came to a close, Ms. Toteda’s English 12 students had the opportunity to critically analyze fairy tales, fables and/or films in a choice project. Many students choose to analyze one of their favourite fantasy/superhero films. What resulted was wonderfully crafted, in-depth film reviews where students showcased their understanding of the visual messages in film by incorporating concepts of mise en scene (décor, lighting, colour, space). Furthermore, students were asked to communicate how do these visual messages construct society’s understanding of goodness and/or heroism? Take a look and enjoy some of our video submissions!
