Ms. Toteda’s Grade 9 English classes were asked to read and review non-fiction books from the secondary library. Students chose books on topics that interested them ranging from astro-physics to cooking! Here are a few reviews that might pique your interest in a non-fiction read!
Ms. Pershin’s Social Studies 9 students embarked on a research project about environmental issues impacting our world. They creatively displayed their learning in an art form of choice, including sculptures, paintings, digital art, musical compositions and more. Watch the following video to see their amazing work!

Ms. Smith’s Social Studies 10 students have been working hard researching various aspects of World War I and demonstrating their learning in different ways including making models. Have a look at some of their creations on display in the Library.
As Term 1 came to a close, Ms. Toteda’s English 12 students had the opportunity to critically analyze fairy tales, fables and/or films in a choice project. Many students choose to analyze one of their favourite fantasy/superhero films. What resulted was wonderfully crafted, in-depth film reviews where students showcased their understanding of the visual messages in film by incorporating concepts of mise en scene (décor, lighting, colour, space). Furthermore, students were asked to communicatehow do these visual messages construct society’s understanding of goodness and/or heroism? Take a look and enjoy some of our video submissions!
