Classroom Rewards System Update

The students have been doing a fantastic job learning and working on the new classroom rewards system. They have been really focused on completing work and earning stamps. They are also enjoying the rewards time when they get to trade in their stamp cards for an activity. One of the options of a reward is for the student to call their parent(s). This reward is an opportunity for your child to tell you about and celebrate their success at earning stamps. If your child calls you from school please help them celebrate their achievement and encourage them in their progress.

Water Conservation Challenge

Continue to complete your family’s water plan for the rest of the weekend. Each day that your family follows their water plan, get your child to put a checkmark in the box. Please return the plan with the checklist on Monday. We will be using these in class that day.

2. Raise your hand

3. Speak only when called on by teacher or adult

4. Stay calm when not called on

5. Hands to self (no fidgets)

6. Remain at carpet/seat during whole lesson

Independent Work time behaviours:

b. Complete task

c. No talking

d. If you have a question – raise your hand and wait

Group work behaviours:

1. Everyone completing the task

2. Conversation is on topic

3. Words builds up group/team – kind, positive, helpful

4. Get help when needed.  ”We are having a hard time working..”

When a student completes a stamp card they will receive a reward. They can choose to spend their card during the day for an end of the day reward or save their card to choose a higher valued reward.

Parent Volunteers

For parents who were interested in listening to 2H students read out loud, I have put up a calendar for January to March outside our classroom for parents to sign up. If you can spare 20-25 minutes in the morning (8:20-8:45am) to listen to children, read, please sign your name under the dates you’re available. You can sign up for as many or as few dates as you’d like. Hopefully, there will be someone to listen to reading everyday. I could have two people per day if you like a day that already has one person.

Thank you very much in advance for your help!
