We hope you all had a wonderful summer!  We are looking forward to seeing you in the Learning Commons during lunch and after school this year.

We are starting off the school year with a reading challenge with a lot of fun prizes.  Check out the details below and ask Mrs. Tinsley or Mrs. Sharpe for a challenge form if you would like to take part in this challenge!

Environmental Stewardship

The Grade 8s are working on an Environmental Stewardship Project.  Claire, Lucas, and Mattias have created an Overfishing Poster Challenge to bring awareness to all of the problems associated with overfishing.  Please read the poster below for more details of how to be a part of this challenge!

It’s Time To “Lego” Of Your Books

The Learning Commons will be hosting a challenge to see who the first homeroom will be from each grade to turn in ALL of their books.  The winner from each grade will receive ice cream bars!  Textbooks and novels that you are using for class do not need to be turned in by June 4th.

Quotable Quotes Challenge

Check out these quotes from popular books in the Learning Commons.  Do you know what book they are from?  Test your knowledge and enter the Learning Commons “Quotable Quotes” challenge.  You can email Mrs. Tinsley (jtinsley@myrcs.ca) or Mrs. Sharpe (csharpe@myrcs.ca) with your answers or you can get a form from the Learning Commons!  And yes, there will be prizes!!

Haiku Poetry

In honour of poetry month, students have had the opportunity over the last two weeks to write Haikus.  Thank you so much to everyone who wrote a Haiku!  Here are the top 10 poems!  You can come to the Learning Commons this week to claim your prize.

Spring: In the Learning Commons
